Toss the apples with the tablespoon of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and cider. Place in 1 1/2 quart lightly buttered serving bowl. Combine the dry ingredients for the topping and with your fingers mix in butter gently, until it resembles coarse crumbs. Spread over apples, bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
