Saute the onions, green peppers, and garlic in the olive oil until translucent (add a little water and cover if necessary during this process). Add the mushrooms and continue heating in the covered saucepan for about 3 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients, including all the liquid that comes with the clams, and heat until hot in a covered saucepan.
Serve with 1 cup of spaghetti or linguini and Parmesan cheese (optional).
